BigQuery Data Export & Analysis
Unsampled event-level data, in a warehouse you control.
The GA4 interface is a summary; the BigQuery export is the record. We configure the export, model the raw event tables into something queryable by your team, and build the analysis the standard reports simply cannot do.
Tools we work in
- BigQuery
- Google Analytics 4
- dbt
- Looker Studio
- SQL
- Google Cloud Storage
- Cloud Scheduler
Scope
What this covers
The specific work included when you engage us for this service.
- GA4 BigQuery export configuration, including daily and streaming exports
- Modelling of the raw event and session tables into documented, analysis-ready views
- SQL for funnels, cohorts, retention and user-level behaviour over time
- Joining analytics events with CRM, order, finance or offline data
- Cost controls through partitioning, clustering and query budget alerts
- Scheduled queries feeding dashboards, alerts or reverse-ETL destinations
- Retention and access management for event-level data
What you receive
- 01A configured export landing event data in your own BigQuery project
- 02Modelled views with the logic written down, not a folder of ad hoc queries
- 03A cost note covering expected storage and query spend at your volumes
Questions
BigQuery Data Export & Analysis, answered
Do we need BigQuery if GA4 already covers our reporting?
Not always. The standard interface answers most day-to-day questions, and an export nobody queries is a cost with no reader. It earns its place when you need unsampled and unthresholded event data, joins to other systems, cohort or retention analysis, or reporting beyond the property's retention window. If none of those apply, we will say so.
What does the export actually cost?
Storage of event data is inexpensive at typical website volumes. Query cost depends on how much data each query scans, which is why partitioning by date and clustering sensibly matters more than any other decision in the setup. We set budget alerts on day one, because an unpartitioned query over years of events is the usual way a cloud bill surprises somebody.
Can our own analysts work with the modelled tables?
That is the point of modelling them. Views are named and documented, columns are typed and explained, and common joins are provided so nobody has to rediscover the event schema. We hand over with a walkthrough, and we are explicit about which tables are safe to query freely and which are expensive by nature.
