MVP Development

The smallest version that answers whether anyone wants it.

An MVP is a test, not a small version of the finished product. We cut the scope to the one workflow that proves the idea, build it in weeks rather than quarters, and write down what was deliberately left out so it can be added once there is evidence to justify it.

Tools we work in

  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • Supabase
  • Vercel
  • Stripe
  • Resend
  • PostHog
  • Tailwind CSS

Scope

What this covers

The specific work included when you engage us for this service.

  • Scope reduction workshops to find the smallest testable version
  • Rapid build on managed platforms to avoid infrastructure work up front
  • Authentication, payments and email set up in days rather than weeks
  • Analytics and event tracking from the first release
  • Feature flagging so unfinished work does not reach users
  • A written list of what was left out and the condition for adding it

What you receive

  • 01A working product in front of real users
  • 02Instrumentation showing which parts of the product people actually use
  • 03A prioritised backlog for the next iteration, ordered by what the data suggests

Questions

MVP Development, answered

How long should an MVP take?

For a focused web product with authentication, one core workflow and payments, four to eight weeks is a realistic range. Anything longer usually means the scope has drifted into being a small product rather than a test of an idea, which is fine if that is the intent, but it should be a decision rather than an accident.

Is building on managed platforms a trap?

It is a deliberate trade. Supabase and Vercel remove months of infrastructure work and are inexpensive at low volume, and the costs that grow are database size and compute rather than licence count. The risk of becoming attached to a platform is real, but spending six months building infrastructure for users who never arrive is the larger and more common risk.
